Matt Cosner races into Show-Me 100 at Wheatland; finishes fourth at Bedford
After Mother Nature shifted Thursday’s event to Friday afternoon, Matt Cosner was one of 58 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) to kick off the Memorial Day weekend with the Cowboy Classic. Following an eighth-place finish in his heat race, Cosner fell short of a transfer spot into the preliminary feature with an eighth-place finish in his B-Main. (Heath Lawson photo)
Later Friday evening for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Matt locked his spot into the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature with third-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off 17th, Cosner faded three spots in the 40-lap affair to finish 20th.
With preliminary results on Friday pinning Cosner fourth on the starting grid for his B-Main on Saturday night, Cosner secured his spot into the $30,000-to-win Show-Me 100 with a runner-up finish behind Rick Eckert. Starting in 23rd, Matt was an early retiree from the 100-lapper on lap 30.
On Monday, Matt made the short trip to Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) for the Turk Burket 88 Tribute. Earning the 10th-starting position for the $4,000-to-win A-Main via preliminary events, Cosner gained six spots to place fourth. He trailed Gregg Satterlee, Jeff Rine, and Gary Stuhler to the checkers with Matt Sponaugle coming in fifth.
