Wrisco Winternationals brings Cosner to East Bay Raceway Park
On Monday afternoon, Matt Cosner followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) for the 45th annual Wrisco Winternationals. In a stout field of 76 cars, Cosner came in eighth in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main. Locking the Top 2 into the opening night feature, Matt logged an 11th-place finish. Slated to start near the tail of the Berry Barn Strawberry Dash for one final shot at the show, Cosner elected to save equipment and scratch from the eight-lapper.
For another $5,000-to-win A-Main on Tuesday, Matt posted an eighth place finish in his heat, leaving him one last shot at feature with a B-Main appearance. Transferring the Top 2, Cosner faded back to an 13th-place outing. (Heath Lawson photos)
The following night, Cosner posted an eighth place finish in his heat before Mother Nature made an appearance and postponed his B-Main to late Thursday evening.
Slated to start near the tail of his B-Main, Matt was a scratch from his consolation event.
For Thursday night’s full program, Cosner finished eighth in his heat race sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the $7,000-to-win A-Main. Needing to place second or better, Matt logged a 10th-place finish.
On Friday afternoon, Matt followed up the 17th fastest lap in his time trial group with a sixth place finish in his heat. Locking the Top 2 finishers from his B-Main, Cosner came three spots shy of transferring with a fifth-place outing.
Wrapping up the 45th annual Wrisco Winternationals on Saturday, Cosner recorded an eighth place finish in his heat, giving him one final shot at the $15,000-to-win finale with his B-Main. Sending the Top 2 into the show, Matt was an early retiree from the 10-lapper on the sixth lap.
